2020 Chevy Avalanche First Photos, Review

We are anticipating a new comeback in the pickup truck market. The 2020 Chevy Avalanche could make a return in the coming months. According to latest reports, Chevrolet opted for a new pickup truck. Moreover, the manufacturer will pick an old name for its forthcoming model. Automakers are doing it for years now. Perhaps the best examples are new Ford Bronco or the upcoming Dodge/Ram Dakota. Avalanche was produced for twelve years and it had two generations.

However, this popular pickup was discounted in 2013 due to poor sales. According to numerous speculations, Avalanche will arrive as a premium pickup truck. It does make sense as General Motors are already offering everything from the compact to full-size models. New 2020 Avalanche will look fresh and upscale. On top of that, it will offer great performances. It looks like the Chevrolet is ready for this stunning comeback.

2020 Chevy Avalanche Looks and Shape

No doubts that the new 2020 Chevy Avalanche will suffer a complete revamp. We don’t believe there will be similarities between the old and the new model. That only means we can expect a lot of changes and upgrades. Of course, the 2020 Avalanche could get some old cues in order to bring back the memories. After all, Avalanche was a very popular model during the 2000s. The goal is to deliver a new design and modern appearance.

Furthermore, Avalanche could easily enter the premium pickup segment. For that reason, we expect a lot of upscale and unique features. A four-door layout is the most likely outcome. Some parts of the exterior design will look sporty. The front grille is perhaps one of the finest examples. The same grille will feature large Chevrolet’s badge instead of bow tie logo. Avalanche will get a cleaner design but it will still look rugged. As any other pickup, Avalanche will also feature some aggressive parts. There will be a lot of optional amenities, larger wheels, and body-colored features.

Interior Design

The latest news is saying there will be up to four trim levels. If the base model is premium, imagine that the range-topping trim level could look like. Each trim level will offer a lot of uniqueness and great comfort. This will make new 2020 Chevy Avalanche a very practical pickup that is easy to customize. The standard model will offer dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and numerous USB ports as standard. On top of that, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included as well.

The base model will get optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. In general, the cabin will look extremely modern and attractive. Chevrolet will introduce new upholstery and numerous interior color schemes. Front seats are very supportive and are power-adjustable. On top of that, heating and cooling options are standard too. We can confirm the comfort is guaranteed. The upcoming 2020 Avalanche will also get numerous safety equipment. That includes blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and much more. More importantly, the pickup will get most of the features as standard.

2020 Chevy Avalanche Powertrain

The performance is another important category for the future of 2020 Chevy Avalanche. There should be three powertrain options. Two gasoline V6 units and a single diesel engine with a turbocharger. On top of that, some reports are suggesting a hybrid variant in the near future. Thanks to its unibody platform, Avalanche will offer a sportier ride and superb handling. We don’t believe this pickup will focus on the off-road characteristics. We still don’t know how the Avalanche will categorize. A full-size model is the most likely outcome for various reasons. Thanks to that, Chevy Avalanche could easily get larger powertrain options.

Furthermore, a 5.3-liter V8 is the most likely candidate. This engine should be standard and it produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The second option is a 6.2-liter V8. This powertrain is optional. Chevrolet will offer a choice between a 6-speed and 8-speed automatic transmission. The all-wheel-drive configuration will be optional on the base model. Another interesting category is towing capacity. Whatsoever, even the fuel economy numbers are intriguing.

What the Future Holds?

We mentioned it already, the forthcoming 2020 Chevy Avalanche will most likely arrive as a full-size model. This pickup was 221 inches long in its previous generations. On top of that, General Motors are offering Sierra Denali model. It is the only premium pickup truck in its segment. However, the full-size segment lacks premium models and Avalanche is a perfect candidate. Other speculations are suggesting a mid-size model.

However, mid-size pickup truck segment already offers established rivals that are hard to compete with. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the new Avalanche. We can expect hybrid powertrain in the near future. On top of that, Chevy’s ZR2 variant is another possibility in the next year or two. However, the luxury segment is the most likely outcome. Avalanche won’t have too many rivals in the premium segment and it will make a much easier breakthrough.

Price and Release Date

Release date is another mystery. We are still waiting for GM to release preview and some of the official details. However, the 2020 Chevy Avalanche will arrive in the six-month time. It could happen by the end of the year. If not, the first quarter of 2020 is the most likely outcome.

New Avalanche will represent a full-size luxury pickup truck. For that reason, we don’t expect the price to be affordable. First reports suggested a price of around $45,000. However, it looks like the starting price could be significantly higher.
