Since the FCA is producing the model, one thing is certain. A 3.6-liter V6 is the most logical choice. This engine powers all of the new Jeep’s models. The 2020 Dodge Dakota will be no different. We are still waiting for the engine specs, which includes tow rating, fuel economy, top speed, and acceleration.

  1. The 3.6 liter Pentastar engine is rated on or about 300-305 horsepower, 270 lb.-ft. of torque and that’s still inadequate. The 4.7 L V-8 always appeared woefully under-powered in the Dodge Dakota. A truck, even a mid-size truck must be able to carry the load under today’s driving conditions. The 2021 Dodge Dakota should be available with a proper suspension and a 5.7L option to be competitive in today’s market.
