The forthcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will arrive at the end of this year and it will introduce plenty of changes. Latest innovations include new exterior paints and small rearrangements between the trim levels. As a result, Sierra 1500 will get more standard features.
For 2020, Sierra 1500 could get a larger panoramic sunroof and new power tailgate. However, this is just a rumor for now. The light-duty pickup could also get its first off-road version. On the other hand, the interior will suffer a couple of changes. Performance-wise, this pickup will continue to offer three engine choices. Sierra 1500 Denali is also available for 2020 and it will deliver luxury and great performances.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Redesign
As we already wrote, the 2019 Sierra 1500 arrived with a total redesign. For that reason, the upcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will get small exterior refreshments. That includes new exterior colors and a couple of new exterior features. According to the latest reports, this pickup will get power tailgate and a new panoramic sunroof. T
The same tailgate is already available on the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The sunroof will be optional and larger than on the current model. Under the skin, Sierra 1500 will lose around 350 pounds. However, the GM T1 platform will remain.
Upgraded Tech and Materials
GM won’t deliver serious interior updates. The all-new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will get small cabin refreshments. For 2020, this pickup will get more user-friendly functions and new optional features. If you unlock some optional features, the base trim level will become a luxury model. Still, if you want real luxury, opt for the upper trim levels.
Unfortunately, cheap plastic materials are still present in the base model. However, we like pore wood trims and optional leather upholstery. An optional touchscreen is very large and it provides a simple interface. Sierra 1500 will offer a standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, vinyl flooring and Bluetooth. This pickup is very customizable and it is available in six trim levels.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Engine
There won’t be changes under the hood. The 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 still offers the same three engine options. A 4.3-liter V6 remains standard choice and it delivers 285 horses and 305 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Optionally, a 5.3-liter V8 produces 355 hp and 385 lb-ft of twist.
Powerful V8 offers both 6-speed and 8-speed automatic gearbox. Finally, diesel powertrain is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder is available. This engine comes with a turbocharger and it cranks out 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. Sierra 1500 will remain a rear-wheel-drive model. The optional four-wheel-drive system is also available.
Sierra 1500 Denali Offers Sportier Styling
New Sierra 1500 offers a luxurious Denali trim. This trim level is known for its premium stuff and powerful performances. The upcoming 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali will arrive with a very attractive design.
Sportier styling looks impressive, especially with the body-colored features. Interior offers leather upholstery, contrast stitching and plenty of standard equipment. Under the hood, Denali variant hides a strong 6.2-liter engine that generates 420 horses and 460 lb-ft of torque. An exclusive 10-speed automatic gearbox is available and it provides a smooth ride.
Price and Release Date
If you want new 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, you’ll have to pay around $35,000. On the other hand, the range-topping Denali trim starts at around $59,000.
The light-duty pickup will try to rival Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. Official release date is not set but Sierra 1500 will surely arrive this year. Some reports are predicting November 2019 as a launch date.
