2020 Mazda BT-50 May Get A New Platform

The upcoming 2020 Mazda BT-50 is almost ready to hit the roads again. From the latest reports, this pickup will get plenty of updates. Some reports are even suggesting a new generation model. If that happens, we can expect even bigger changes. This model will look to rival Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

These models are also popular in Asia and Australia. However, Ranger is returning to the United States and Mazda will follow the same path. In general, the new look is in the works and even the new platform could happen. Interior will get plenty of upgrades, especially in terms of technology. A hybrid powertrain is a rumor for now. It is likely to happen, however, not in 2020. The Japanese automaker will make new Mazda BT-50 in partnership with Isuzu.

All-new 2020 Mazda BT-50 will get a lot of improvements in terms of styling and design. The arriving pickup will arrive with the iconic Nagare styling scheme. For that reason, Mazda will opt for new styling and design. Interestingly, some parts are similar to the Ford Ranger’s model. However, Isuzu will have a great impact in this category.

As for the changes, the 2020 BT-50 will offer larger grille and headlights. Bumpers are more aggressive at both ends. 16-inch wheels are once again available as standard. Mazda could offer new optional wheels and new exterior colors.

The forthcoming 2020 Mazda BT-50 offers both regular cab and chassis cab variants. Chassis cab also offers an optional Freestyle Cab. Single cab and Double cab are available as well. However, the most popular choices are the Chassis Cab. This variant is available with 4×2 and 4×4 configurations.

XT trim level offers 16-inch wheels as standard. A six-speaker sound system, 7-inch display, and Bluetooth are standard too. XTR trim level is available with 17-inch rims, navigation, and an 8-inch touchscreen. On top of that, BT-50 XTR offers more safety equipment as standard.

A 2.2-liter diesel engine will be offered as standard. This unit is producing 170 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this torque figures, a diesel engine can tow up to 4,400 pounds.

Unfortunately, this engine is not available in all markets. The 2020 Mazda BT-50 also comes with a 3.2-liter engine. This five-cylinder powertrain is good for 200 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. This engine offers towing capacity that is rated at 7,700 pounds. Both units are available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. AWD configuration is optional while this truck deploys a standard rear-wheel-drive system.

Just like the Ford Ranger, Mazda also plans to offer its new pickup truck in the United States. The North American market is packed with SUVs and crossovers. Of course, BT-50 will most likely arrive in the United States without diesel powertrain. However, the 2020 Mazda BT-50 will hit the dealerships later in 2019. This pickup will firstly arrive in Asia and Australia.

The U.S. will get this model at the beginning of 2020. Mazda BT-50 will arrive with numerous configurations and trim levels. On top of that, the latest news is suggesting that this pickup will become available in Brazil.
