The forthcoming 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will get significant upgrades. The manufacturer confirmed serious updates and that includes new design and more tech. Last L200 model that arrived with significant changes was the 2016 model.
Now, the 2020 version will finally get new must-have features and a more modern look. Exterior and interior will suffer a large number of modifications. However, the turbodiesel engine will surely remain. Still, we are hoping for Mitsu to deliver new mechanical changes.
2020 Mitsubishi L200 Modern Design
Mitsubishi has big plans for its SUVs and pickup trucks. “Drive for Growth” is the company’s latest slogan that represents the new generation of vehicles. The upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi L200 is one of the models that will get a redesign. This strategy is the product of the Renault-Nissan alliance. For that reason, new L200 will get some unique styling cues. New design, called “dynamic shield” has been seen in the past, mostly on the concepts.
Now, the same design language will be present on the 2020 L200. That includes new grille and headlights. Wheel flares are longer and bumpers are bolder. Taillights are brand-new and new pickup truck will get a more angular design this time. As a result, this will be the most attractive version of the popular truck, no doubt about it.
Cabin Details
The all-new 2020 Mitsubishi L200 is about to get serious interior updates. A lot of customers will be satisfied for sure. A single cab and double cab variants are available once again. However, European markets are not offering single cab configuration. Mitsubishi will offer more upscale materials this time. As a result, the cabin will look plushy and comfort will be great for the pickup segment. All of the systems will get important updates.
On top of that, new systems are available as well. That mostly includes safety aids and driver-assistance systems. The 2020 L200 will be one of the safest trucks on the markets. Mitsubishi will offer rear-cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring. Furthermore, we could expect a couple of new optional amenities as well. The layout is unchanged for 2020, so the space from the inside will largely remain.
2020 Mitsubishi L200 Powertrain
This pickup truck is available in literally every part of the globe. L200 is also available as Triton. For 2020, these two models will be very similar, unlike in the past. Logically, Mitsubishi was offering different engines for different markets. Now, both L200 and Triton will get the same engine lineup. The 2020 Mitsubishi L 200 will keep its 2.4-liter and 2.5-liter options. A 2.4-liter turbodiesel produces 180 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.
A 6-speed automatic transmission will be the only gearbox option. That means Mitsubishi will ditch a 5-speed manual transmission, finally. We are yet to find out which engine will be the newest options. There are a couple of possible candidates. Besides that, further mechanical changes are about to happen. The 2020 L200 will get more driving modes, hill descent control system and larger brakes. On top of that, bigger dampers in the back are available too. According to the newest reports, new L200 will get the best tow rating so far.
Price and Release Date
Newest 2020 Mitsubishi L200 will now cost $35,000. It is a small jump in price over the current model. Having in mind the number of upgrades, the price is more than fair in our opinion. L200 aka Triton will hit the dealerships this November in the United States. European markets will have to wait for the beginning of 2020.
