The all-new 2020 Toyota Hilux is a reliable pickup truck with great performances and a very appealing design. On top of that, Hilux is a practical model that will ride on its second generation. No one knows when the third-gen model will arrive. Until that happens, we don’t expect drastic changes in the mid-size pickup truck. Most of the features and styling cues are a carryover.
That means you won’t find many differences between the current model and the 2020 Hilux. However, Hilux is a very customizable truck. Thanks to its numerous color options, appearance packages and trim levels you will have plenty of options. Interior provides great comfort, especially on the higher trim levels.

The infotainment system is upgrades and Toyota will deliver new interface on displays. According to the manufacturer, displays will now offer more user-friendly features. The layout will largely remain. That includes the seating configuration and the position of the buttons. The shape of the air vents is unchanged which is a good thing. Air vents are looking very upscale and modern.
Toyota offers optional vinyl flooring and leather upholstery. The list of the standard features won’t be longer than before. That means we also don’t expect new features and systems. The safety rating is very good thanks to Toyota’s Safety Sense P suite. Dashboard and instrument cluster remains the same as on the current model. If you want more premium cabin with greater comfort, opt for the higher trim levels.
2020 Toyota Hilux Powertrain and Gearbox System
The same three engines will be in the offer once again. The all-new 2020 Toyota Hilux offers a standard 2.7-liter gasoline engine. This unit is good for 165 horses and 180 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, a 2.4-liter turbodiesel powertrain is optional. However, the same diesel unit is standard on mid-range trim levels.
It delivers 150 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. Another diesel unit is a 2.8-liter engine. It is perhaps the most popular and the most reliable choices among the customers. This powertrain generates up to 175 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of twist. Interestingly, all three units are offering both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox choices. Knowing that Toyota will introduce zero mechanical changes for 2020.
