One of the most reliable pickup trucks in the world will arrive in the near future. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma brings plenty of refreshments and it got people excited. The famous model comes with great performances, superb comfort and astonishing design. Toyota is bringing plenty of good news for 2020. For the start, new Tacoma will finally get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Interior will also get new features and systems. Trim levels will largely remain. However, basically, each trim level will get something unique and new. On the other hand, reliable V6 is still available under the hood. Knowing that performance will stay intact.
What’s New?
For the start, all trim levels will get a re-tooled grille. The 2020 Toyota Tacoma will also get stylish wheel design while the 16, 17 and 18-inch options will remain. Toyota will deliver the latest Entune multimedia interface. Knowing that a 7-inch touchscreen is now standard. The infotainment system will finally support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Not only that, Tacoma features Amazon Alexa and Bluetooth as well. So, if you want the Tacoma SR5 model, you’ll get more equipment than before. A highlight of this trim level is Toyota Safety Sense safety suite, new display, new grille, and dark 16-inch satin wheels. Notable upgrades are also a new panoramic view monitor system and multi-terrain monitor system.
Engine Specs
The base 2020 Toyota Tacoma still uses a 2.7-liter four-cylinder that produces 160 hp. Only one mechanical upgrade is available. We’ll get to that in a minute. Four-cylinder provides 23 mpg on the highway and it offers a 6-speed automatic transmission. If you want to upgrade the performance, choose optional 3.5-liter V6. This powertrain generates almost 280 horsepower.
On top of that, it offers both 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. Automatic transmission earns 24 mpg on the highway and it can tow 6,850 pounds. So, what’s new? The same automatic gearbox has been recalibrated. Knowing that Tacoma will hold lower gears longer, especially on the highway. This will provide better shift points and a comfier ride.
What About TRD Trim Levels?
Both TRD trim levels are available once again. And while we like both Off-Road and TRD Pro models, we recommend Off-Road version for various reasons. For the start, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is more expensive, and hard to find on the dealerships. On the other hand, Off-Road trim comes with better value and the same locking rear differential.
Moreover, it comes with the same crawl control system and advanced traction. TRD Pro will get you a couple of special features and special logos, especially from the inside. If you seek off-road adventures, TRD Off-Road will sacrifice a couple of amenities for a much affordable price.
2020 Toyota Tacoma Price and Competition
New 2020 Toyota Tacoma will cost $26,500. It is a small jump in price over the current model. The range-topping Tacoma TRD Pro will start slightly over $45,000.
Tacoma’s closest competitors are Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado. However, mid-size pickup truck segment is growing. For that reason, Honda Ridgeline and all-new Jeep Gladiator are other treats.
