If you didn’t know, the SVT Lightning model was a trendy back in the days. Unfortunately, due to not good sales, Blue Oval carmaker decided to discontinue this model in 2004. Now, after many years of waiting, the rumors about the comeback of SVT Lightning are not settling down.
As you probably know, Ford Raptor is the best selling pickup truck right now, and we cannot wait to see how the new high-performance model SVT Lightning will handle. From what we heard, the upcoming SVT Lightning won’t only provide excellent performance, it should also be more modern.
2021 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning Design
The newest renderings reveal that the upcoming Ford F-150 SVT Lightning pickup truck looks aggressive and stylish. Compared to the predecessor, the new one will introduce various cosmetic upgrades. Firstly, the rendered two-door truck looks sportier, and we can see plenty of upgrades compared to the regular F-150 pickup.
It features a prominent grille with a larger Ford lettering in the center. The same front fascia design we saw on the famous Raptor model. On top of that, Ford F-150 SVT Lightning comes with new black alloy wheels that look more massive than on the base model. Unfortunately, there are no renderings behind. However, we think that SVT Lightning will provide the same sporty vibe as on the front.
Cabin Rumors
Right now, there are no available photos of the cabin. Generally, we think that the 2021 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning pickup truck will not depart from the regular version, at all. Many believe that the cabin will be a poorly silhouette of the F-150 Raptor variant. However, eider way, customers should expect more upright materials and plenty of room inside. Like on all Ford F-150 pickups, the layout will be mostly the same.
Ford always provides a sporty cabin with standard leather upholstery. Basically, the goal is to create a very premium cabin that should stay competitive for a couple of years. Besides, we can expect various optional packages and driver-assistance aids.
2021 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning Engine
Right now, we don’t have official confirmation about the engine. From some rumors, the arriving 2021 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning truck will use a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged unit that is capable of producing up to 650 horsepower. If that happens, F-150 SVT Lightning will provide more output than the Raptor model.
However, we believe this unlikely to happen. Blue Oval will probably use a weaker engine. V6 twin-turbo powertrain will most likely be the first candidate. The engine delivers excellent performance, and it can generate 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Honestly, this sounds more realistic, in our opinion, than the V8.
Price and Release Date
The brand-new 2021 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning from renderings looks very appealing. According to some experts, this model will surely cost over $50,000, which is not surprised because it is a high-performance pickup truck. From what we heard, sales will begin at some point next year. Moreover, plenty of fans are hoping that it will be launched in the first quarter of the next year.
