The upcoming 2021 GMC Canyon continues with mid-cycle refreshments. Whatsoever, some reports are saying the 2022 Canyon will be the new-gen model. Until that happens, this mid-size pickup truck will continue to deliver minor upgrades. When it arrives, 2021 Canyon will introduce not such drastic cosmetic changes.
On top of that, the interior will get latest tech updates. Besides that, the rest of the cabin will largely remain. It is the same story under the hood, so performances are unchanged for 2021 as well. The only speculation that makes sense is a hybrid powertrain. However, Canyon Hybrid should be introduced in 2022 when a new generation arrives.
Exterior Will Largely Remain
The arriving mid-size pickup will deploy the same GMT 31XX architecture. New-gen Canyon will ride on the latest VSS-T platform that can accommodate hybrid powertrain. The 2021 GMC Canyon will hit the roads with small exterior upgrades. A couple of minor visual changes are barely visible. Black Out exterior trim is present once again.
On top of that, the Nightfall Package is available too. General Motors will introduce one or two fresh exterior paints. The front part comes with larger headlights, and the grille is wider. Canyon continues to offer two bed options, and the base model offers optional removable tailgate. Upper trim levels are offering more chrome accents and, generally, more luxury.
Interior Upgrades
Canyon offers a very modern and practical interior. The 2021 GMC Canyon will continue in the same fashion. That means the interior won’t suffer any significant change. Whatsoever, only tech features are updated. That includes the latest phone integrations, navigation, displays, and infotainment system. Furthermore, Canyon will get new driver-assistance features. However, most of the modern amenities will be optional on the base model.
The cabin already looks fresh and stylish. The interior room is generous, and even the rear occupants can enjoy ample legroom. Front seats are supportive, and comfort is guaranteed. If you want something more, higher trim levels are offering standard leather upholstery. The mid-size pickup already offers a good safety rating. New 2021 Canyon will be even better in terms of safety.
Mid-Size Pickup Offers Great Performances
Under the bonnet, all-new 2021 GMC Canyon remains. There will be three engine options. The offer starts with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit. It can produce 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. An optional 3.6-liter V6 is more recommended.
This potent engine generates 310 horses and 275 lb-ft of torque. The last engine in the offer is a diesel variant. A 2.8-liter that delivers 180 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Both V6 and four-cylinder diesel are available with the Active Tow System. Canyon Diesel can tow up to 8,000 pounds.
2021 GMC Canyon Price and Release Date
The price of the approaching 2021 GMC Canyon won’t change. Everything remains, and the base trim level is available for $23,000. The mid-size pickup is available in numerous trim levels. Thanks to that, the upper trims will cost over $30,000.
General Motors are also offering an off-road capable AT4 variant. New-gen Canyon will arrive in 2022, and that’s when we could expect a hybrid powertrain. Before that, 2021 Canyon will go on sale later next year.
