As the mid-size pickup segment is growing, Nissan plans to deliver major improvements to its Frontier model. The all-new 2021 Nissan Frontier will host numerous changes. That includes exterior redesign, interior refreshments, and a new powertrain option. On top of that, further mechanical changes are about to happen, for instance, a transmission.
Another strong point is Frontier’s price. It is one of a few models in the segment that starts below $30,000. Furthermore, Frontier is currently the company’s best-selling truck. Interestingly, Frontier gained more sales than the Nissan Titan. Either way, Frontier is ready for the next chapter.
2021 Frontier Exterior Redesign
The all-new 2021 Nissan Frontier will get a serious facelift. As a result, new pickup will look more modern and it will sport a futuristic appearance. In order for that to happen, Nissan will have to change the styling. A redesign is still a speculation, but drastic changes will surely happen. For the start, Frontier will grow in size. Some rumors are suggesting new platform that underpins Nissan Navara. We can officially rule out this possibility.
The mid-size pickup will keep its current architecture and will deploy the same leaf springs. As for the design, Frontier will get new exterior features. That includes new headlights and a new grille. On top of that, new taillights, new exterior colors and new optional wheels are available. On the other hand, Frontier will continue to ride on the same 16-inch alloy wheels.
Interior Modernization
Interior is another category where Frontier will get plenty of innovations. For the start, the cabin will get a more modern look and a couple of subtle touches. The 2021 Nissan Frontier will keep its interior layout. However, Nissan will try to deliver better comfort this time. That means you can expect new basic upholstery. Frontier will surely remain practical as before.
There will be a couple of trim levels and cab variants. King Cab and Crew Cab body styles are in the offer once again. Furthermore, Nissan will provide a longer list of standard equipment. Finally, new leather upholstery and new driver-assistance features are available.
New Engine Option
This is perhaps the biggest change so far. The upcoming 2021 Nissan Frontier will get a new V6 engine. This unit will replace the current 4.0-liter V6 and its aging 5-speed gearbox. New powertrain will get a 7-speed automatic transmission and it will generate over 300 horses. Just for the compare, current Frontier delivers 265 horsepower.
This will also result in a better towing capacity. The current model can tow up to 6,500 pounds. No doubt, the 2021 Frontier will get better rating. On top of that, improved fuel efficiency is another thing where will Frontier benefit. In our honest opinion, the mid-size pickup looks ready to rival Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and other models in the segment.
2021 Nissan Frontier Price and Release Date
Interestingly, the 2021 Nissan Frontier will once again start below $30,000. Its affordable price is once again the main reason why you should opt for this mid-size pickup. The average price for the mid-size segment is $32,000. However, Frontier will start at $28,500. The biggest competitors are new Jeep Gladiator, Toyota Tacoma, and Ford Ranger. Frontier will hit the dealerships next November.
