The approaching 2021 Ram Dakota will continue to deliver further exterior upgrades. Changes are likely, but not that significant changes. Dakota is a mid-size pickup truck that will be based on the Jeep Wrangler SUV. Design is very closely related to the design of the Ram 1500. Dakota will surely deliver a modern look with impressive styling. Wrangler and Dakota will share the platform, as well.

Thanks to that, the 2021 Dakota will be a body-on-frame pickup. Its front fascia will look distinctive and aggressive at the same time. Ram’s famous crosshair grille is no longer available. Just like the rest of the newest Ram’s pickup trucks, Dakota will also feature a huge RAM lettering. The bumpers and wheels are all-new, and Ram will deliver numerous optional equipment.

Interior Details

Inside the new 2021 Ram Dakota, some things are not clear yet. Interior details are yet to be announced. However, Dakota will surely combine cues from the Ram 1500 and Jeep Wrangler models. Both models are offering excellent interior details in their respective segments. On the other hand, Dakota will focus on practicality more than anything. The mid-size pickup will get the latest technology updates across all trim levels.

We can expect a modern cabin with attractive cues and features. Cloth upholstery is standard on the base trim level. Upper trim levels are offering premium leather seats and numerous safety systems. The new dash is available, and the shape of the air vents is very interesting. For 2021, Dakota could get more driver-assistance and additional optional equipment.

Engine Rumors

The most likely outcome in terms of performance is a 3.6-liter V6 powertrain. Jeep likes to offer this engine in basically every new model. Powerful V6 delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The new Jeep Gladiator pickup truck will also feature the very same output. On the other hand, 2021 Ram Dakota will offer an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four variant. According to reliable sources, this engine will produce over 300 hp.

On top of that, this powertrain will be standard on specific trim levels. An 8-speed automatic transmission will be offered as standard. Some other markets could get a completely different engine. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder that generates 260 horses and 440 lb-ft of torque is the possible candidate. Diesel output will become available in Asia.

2021 Ram Dakota Price and Release Date

Price is another mystery at the moment. However, the 2021 Ram Dakota should start at around $26,000. This pickup will compete in the mid-size segment, possibly the toughest market at the moment.

This segment already offers reliable models such as Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, and Ford Ranger. New Dakota will hit the roads later in 2020.
