The recently introduced 2021 Rivian R1T is the new electric pickup truck that will be the main rival to Tesla’s new Cybertruck. Like the Cybertruck, the upcoming R1T offers unique design and odd appearance never seen before.

On top of that, Rivian promised incredible performances thanks to the four-electric motors. According to the manufacturer, with a larger 180 kWh battery package, the R1T gives a range of 400 miles. The design of all-new 2021 Rivian R1T looks unique and futuristic. At this moment, there are no pickup trucks available on the market with a similar look. The front fascia dominates thanks to a “stadium-shaped” lights and a horizontal light bar that sits between and is used like a daytime running light and a charge-level indicator.

Dimensionally, this pickup truck is large and it measures a total length of 217.1 inches, similar to other full-size pickups. However, the bed itself is quite short, and according to some reviews, it`s only 4.6 feet in length. Thanks to the adjustable air suspension, the Rivian features a wide range of heights and can provide incredible 14.1 inches of ground clearance. Just for comparison, the newest Ford Raptor has 11.5.

The cabin of the newest 2021 Rivian R1T is unique. There will be luxury all around. Also, comfort is guaranteed and with two rows of seats, the new pickup has enough space for five passengers. According to Rivian, R1T will feature a Level 3 autonomy. In terms of design, 2021 Rivian R1T cabin is made by many quality materials. Thanks to that, the closest competitor in this department is the Tesla.

However, because the R1T is still in the production stage, most of its standard features are unknown. From the latest images, we can see that Rivian used minimal controls and large screens. One screen is seen as a digital instrument cluster, while another one sits horizontally in the centre of the dash.

The upcoming 2021 Rivian R1T will use the new “skateboard” platform. According to Rivian, this platform can accommodate four electric motors, suspension, and the battery pack. The total output of all engines will be 562 kW (753 horsepower) and 852 lb-ft of torque. We must mention that each motor will deliver 147 kilowatts. Thanks to this configuration, the new R1T is a speedy pickup. It can run like some sports nowadays cars from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds. Tesla offers arrangements with one, two, or three motors. Moreover, with a tri-motor variant, the Cybertruck stops the clocks at a blistering 2.9 seconds.

2021 Rivian R1T also comes with few battery packs. The standard model includes a 135-kWh package that can provide 300 miles. If this is not enough, there is an option to choose a larger 180 kWh battery with a range of 400 miles. With a DC fast charger, this pickup can be charged from 0 to 80 % in less than one hour. The newest 2021 Rivian R1T is a potent pickup truck that will rival Tesla’s new Cybertruck. According to the manufacturer, the starting price of this model is $69,000. Moreover, this is almost double if we compered to the recently revealed Cybertruck. The production will begin in the second half of 2020, and the sales will start later that year.

Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Chevrolet Silverado will compete with this model alongside the all-new Cybertruck.
