The upcoming 2021 VW Atlas has been confirmed. As you may already know, this pickup truck is based on the popular Atlas SUV. Moreover, this model will use most of the cues from its SUV sibling. Some speculations are circulating around that manufacturer will use the same name Tanoak that is used on the concept model. However, this information is not year confirmed by officials.

2021 VW Atlas Design
The manufacturer did a great job with the new 2021 VW Atlas pickup. Volkswagen used the same compact design as on the SUV. Also, both models share the same MQB platform. This platform is one of the most innovative and flexible in the automotive world. However, Atlas mid-size truck looks more rugged and classy thanks to this platform. Dimensionally, this pickup is 214.1 inches long. If we compare it to the SUV, Atlas pickup model is around 15.8 inches longer.
The front fascia is dominated thanks to the high shaped LED headlights and the grille that uses more chrome materials. The front bumper on the pickup truck sits lower than on the SUV version, and it looks stronger. Fog lights are also attractive and unique. Atlas pickup will come to with the high-gloss 20-inch wheels that use contrasting aluminum and black coloring. However, on the back, the unique Red LED strips three-dimensional LED taillights are all-around the bed. Cargo bed is 64.1 inches long and 57.1 wide.
Interior is Clean and Modern
The interior of the 2021 VW Atlas mid-size pickup truck will be almost identical to the SUV. Moreover, Atlas pickup comes with two rows of seats and can accommodate five passengers. The design inside is modern and all seats provide unforgivable comfort on a longer ride. Interestingly, Volkswagen will pack this pickup with more standard features than an SUV model.

2021 VW Atlas Powertrain Specs
The 2021 Atlas sits on the same Volkswagen’s MQB platform as the SUV model. Furthermore, thanks to that, this pickup can place a powerful engine under its hood. So, this pickup will use the same engine as the Atlas SUV. It`s powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that is the only option for now, unfortunately. This engine produces 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, and it sends its power through a standard 8-speed automatic gearbox.
4Motion AWD system with new Active control will be part of the standard package. Also, mods like sport, off-road, on-road, snow, and mud will be available. From some reports, the new pickup will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds.
Verdict, Price and Release Date
The upcoming 2021 VW Atlas is the new pickup truck that is based on the SUV model. This model provides an almost identical design as the SUV variant. According to the latest news, the price of this model will starts at 32,000 for the base equipped model. With this price, the new pickup truck will cost more than the SUV version.
VW’s upcoming flagship pickup will debut in the last quarter of 2020. At the same time, we can expect the new Honda Ridgeline model that is the main rival to the 2021 VW Atlas.
