2022 GMC Canyon Redesign, Features, News

The new 2022 GMC Canyon is arriving next year, and it will get mid-cycle refreshments. This pickup truck is very popular and is ranked really high in its segment. Similar to the Chevy Colorado, the General Motors truck will gain minor changes for 2022. However, Canyon will get a couple of important upgrades, including better styling and more standard feature.

Like the previous pickup, the forthcoming one will be available in a few trim levels. The most popular is an off-road AT4 model, featuring more robust styling. Also, from some early reports, the interior will get some changes, including better styling and technology updates.

2022 GMC Canyon Exterior Upgrades

As mentioned, the new 2022 GMC Canyon will get a minor change regarding its exterior. If you can remember, last year’s model offered many improvements, which will not happen this time.

However, some reports reveal that the next generation will use lighter materials, mostly aluminum. This should result in better fuel efficiency than on the previous one pickup. The truck’s appearance will be slightly better in terms of design, and one can expect additional chrome accents around the grille. AT4 is the most favorite model, providing more sporty styling and off-road equipment.

Interior Will Offer More Upscale Materials

As for the interior, the new 2022 GMC Canyon is available in two forms as Extended Cab or Crew Cab. Generally, both models offer more upscale materials that we used to see on this type of pickups. According to the manufacturer, buyers can choose many optional amenities. For example, one can get seats with vinyl, cloth, and leather materials, and it can upgrade the infotainment system to an 8-inch touchscreen.

Many standard features are also present, including Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. A heated steering wheel is standard on the Denali, as is wood trim. Besides, buyers will get the opportunity to make their own color theme inside, with additional cost.

2022 GMC Canyon Engine Performance

Under the hood, the new 2022 GMC Canyon will most likely use the same powertrain as before. However, we heard many rumors recently, and one of them is that it might get a hybrid powertrain. As for the current engine lineup, it will remain the same. The base model is available with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

However, if you prefer something more potent, there is another alternative. The new Canyon is also offered with a 3.6-liter V6 that puts out 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the base model, this version uses a more smoother 8-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, if you are a fan of diesel engines, you can get one optionally. This engine consists of a 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which produces 181 horses and 369 lb-ft of torque.

Release Date and Price

The sales of 2022 GMC Canyon will probably start next year. Obviously, we can expect some improvements, but nothing significant at all. As we heard, the new model will be tagged with the same price as the outgoing model. That means you can get the entry-level pickup for around $24,000. However, expect Denali trim to cost about $10,000 more.
