The upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is spied testing again with minimal camouflage. It’s no surprise to see a refreshed version of the GMC Sierra because the pickup truck segment is growing really fast. Moreover, this time, spy shots give us a better look at what’s updated outside.
Most likely that the forthcoming Sierra will share plenty of cues with the recently redesigned Yukon model. Besides that, the probability is hight that GMC will power this pickup the same engine as before, providing better cooling and towing to match its class-leading efficiency.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 First Look
The spy shots of the upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 emerged again online. At first glance, we can clearly see that the blocky, angular look mostly remains. In addition, like the current Sierra, the new one will continue to provide the same dimension and shape.
However, through covering, we noticed that the front fascia features a new black plastic mesh grille, with plenty of chrome hiding under, too. Also, the newly shaped LED headlights are present alongside a stylish 18-inch wheel. On the back, the spied model features a stronger chrome bumper and a revised taillight system.
Interior Improvements
Perhaps the most mysterious part of this pickup truck is the interior. We hope that the future set of spy photos will give us a better look at what’s updated inside. However, if we look at the recently redesigned Silverado model or Ram 1500, there is a high probability that Sierra will feature a completely new cabin to stay competitive.
From what we heard, the next Sierra will most probably borrow plenty of cues from the redesigned Yukon model. Overall, expect a great roomy cabin with more techs than before. However, we’ll have to wait for a new batch of photos that will give us a better visual look.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Powertrain
Right now we dont have a clue what’s under the spied 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Most likely that GMC will use the same engines as before. If you didn’t know, the current pickup model offers a choice of six engines. Base Sierra is powered by a 4.3-liter V6 providing 285 horsepower. However, we recommend stepping up to another powertrain a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder surprisingly delivering 310 horsepower and 310 horsepower.
The diesel engine is also on the offer, and it consists of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-6 making 277 horsepower. Interestingly, two 5.3 V8 engines are available providing 355 horsepower. Lastly, the most potent 6.2-liter V8 is a workhorse that produces 420 horsepower. All models above will use an automatic transmission, either 6-, 8-, or 10-speed depending on engine and trim.

Release Date and Price
The upcoming 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 is spied testing a couple of times this year. Moreover, the last spy shots reveal this model with minimal camouflage, giving us a better look at what is changed.
From what we heard, the new model will be fully introduced next year with the starting price of $31,000. As you can notice, the price remains the same for the base model. However, we think that price will change mostly going up to higher trims.
