The new 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD truck will receive significant updates next year. If you didn’t know, this model has been delayed due to the COVID-19 virus. According to GMC, the forthcoming edition will receive some of the styling updates and improved trailer-assistance features. On top of that, the Multipro tailgate is now standard on the SLE trim level, and the manufacturer will introduce some new paint colors.
The range-topping Denali is still the best option if you have additional money. This trim adds a high-definition 360-degree camera, exclusive black 20-inch wheels, and power-retractable running boards. However, if you are looking for a model that provides best off-roading, the manufacturer offers the AT4 version with mud-terrain tires and a high-clearance step accessory.
2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD Exterior Refreshments
According to GMC, the forthcoming Sierra 2500HD will gets some small exterior refreshments. First of all, the truck’s latest version won’t be mistaken for any other version in the GMC Sierra line. This model features a GMC emblazoned grille, large proportions, and a hood with a prominent scoop. The new truck also comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, plus prominent C-shaped LED daytime running lights.
The Denali treatment will drastically change the look of the 2500HD model. This package adds it includes a grille and side mirror housings finished in chrome. Built-in steps behind the cab and on the rear bumper, providing easy access to the bed. Like before, the Sierra 2500HD includes the same 17-inch steel wheels as standard, while Denali trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels finished in high-gloss black.
The new 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD offers a best-in-class roomy and modern cabin. Every Sierra HD features comfortable seats and an 8-inch standard touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Generally, the larger touchscreen can be upgraded with built-in navigation, a Bose audio system, a SiriusXM satellite radio.
On top of that, there is an option to add a rear-seat entertainment system. GMC also offers excellent driver aids includes forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning.
2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD Engine Specs
Two engines are available with 2022 GMC Sierra HD models. The standard is still a gas-powered 6.6-liter V-8 that generates 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. This engine sends power through a six-speed automatic transmission and rear- or all-wheel drive.
The more recommended is the optional Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8. Unlike the first one, this powertrain cranks out 445 ponies and 910 lb-ft of twist, and it works through an Allison 10-speed automatic. Thanks to those powertrains, the Sierra 2500HD is good for 3979 pounds of payload and 18,500 pounds of towing. The strongest Sierra 3500HD is best in class, offering 7442 pounds in its cargo bed and pull as much as 35,500 pounds.
Release Date and Price
Like many other companies, GMC delayed the release of the 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD due to Coronavirus. As we managed to dig, the new version will most likely to arrive in the middle of 2022. Pricing is still a mystery, but everything below $38,000 is acceptable. The current truck starts at $37,795.
