The rumors about the all-new 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck are not settling down at all. According to many of them, the manufacturer is working on a pickup truck variant that will arrive sometime next year. Based on the famous Land Rover Defender SUV, the upcoming pickup truck will most likely use many cues from it.
Some of the renderings are available, and the new Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck looks modern even with a short bed. Basically, the focus of the manufacturer is to make a very adventurous truck with a premium design.

2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Design, Platform
Reportedly, Land Rover is in the phase of developing a four-door pickup truck that will be based on the upcoming long-wheelbase Defender 130 model. According to the latest reports, the 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will ride on the same platform as the SUV, and it will borrow many cues from it.
Moreover, unlike the SUV model, a pickup truck will be slightly longer. The idea is actually pretty cool, and some of the renderings reveal almost identical styling as we recently saw on the latest Defender SUV. Basically, the pickup truck features the same front fascia with a slightly revised grille and the same shaped headlights. Of course, the pickup truck comes with a bed, and it will probably be offered with various wheels options.
Interior Rumors
The Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will most likely adopt the same cabin as the Defender SUV. So, we can expect a very premium and modern interior, with room for five occupants. As we already mentioned, the pickup truck will probably use the same platform as the SUV version.
Generally, we would be surprised if the Land Rover pickup uses the same technology as in the SUV. The current Defender 90 is equipped with many amenities. This model comes standardly with a 10-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Sirius satellite radio, and cruise control. However, upper trims are available with a 400-watt Meridian sound system with 11 speakers, heated and cooled front seats, and a panoramic roof.

2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck Powertrain Specs
The engine department is the most mysterious part of this pickup truck. From the information that we saw o many popular websites, Land Rover will most likely use a plug-in hybrid and V-8 powertrain options. Alongside we could also expect the current turbo-4 and turbo-6. On the other hand, even an engine that powers the SUV version is a solid choice. The current SUV uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder generating 296 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque.
Besides this engine, the manufacturer also offers a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 with mild-hybrid and electric supercharged. Generally, this engine is the most certain because it generates 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It will be interesting to see what type of transmission the manufacturer would use.

Release Date and Price
The all-new 2022 Land Rover Defender Pickup Truck will ride on the unibody platform, and we can expect its price to be above $30,000. However, as we mentioned, this model is not yet officially confirmed, so its release is still uncertain. If you didn’t know, the Defender is built in Europe in Slovakia, so we should expect the pickup version to be made in the same factory.
The main reason that Defender Pickup will be produced in Europe is because of the so-called “Chicken Tax,” which slaps a 25% tariff on all foreign-made trucks. Land Rover confirmed the expansion of the Defender models, and the pickup truck variant is the most speculated since then.
