Toyota’s full-size pickup truck Tundra will get a new look and it will arrive next year. We have some exclusive rendering photos of the next-gen 2022 Toyota Tundra that we found on the popular carscoops website. At first glance, this model will be completed redesigned. However, its shape and dimensions will remain the same.
As you may know, the Tundra is one of the best selling models from this automaker. Like before, the latest Tundra underpinning the Toyota’s new F1 architecture shared with the next-generation Tacoma and Sequoia full-size SUV. In terms of performances, drastic changes will happen and this pickup truck will bring a few new engine options.
2022 Toyota Tundra Design Overhaul
Styling is completely different than before. In addition, the new Tundra will be a mix of RAV4 and new Highlander models. Also, we like this new look and the new LED headlamps that have c-shaped DRL signatures with high-mounted main beams. First of all, the front dominates with the chrome trapezoidal-framed grille that shares visual linage with the current truck. Hood also looks refreshed and it’s now RAM-like powered.
Out-back, this full-size pickup truck features a powered tailgate, Cadillac-style vertical LED tail lights, integrated bumper steps, and a configurable modular bed.
2022 Tundra Cabin Updates
The interior of the upcoming 2022 Toyota Tundra will be roomier and more modern. This model offers a high-quality cabin with a plethora of technology and amenities. According to some hint, the new model will host many of Highlander’s techs inside. So, expect a 12.3-in touch-screen incorporating Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, 4G Wi-Fi connectivity, and a premium JBL audio system as standard.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 is also part of this pickup truck. And thanks to this package, the Tundra will be equipped with low-light pedestrian detection, radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing aid, automatic high beam control, front & rear park assist, and road sign detection.
Power To Haul
Reportedly, the new 2022 Toyota Tundra will utilize few engine options. According to the latest gossip, the upcoming model will deploy some new engines. However, there is no information about what will happen with the 4.6-liter and 5.7-liter powertrains. The manufacturer will use a new Lexus’ twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 hybrid system and a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 under the ‘I-Force pumping out 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts).
Power through these engines should be fed to the rear wheels (or optionally, all four). From the information that we got, both models will use a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmissions. Like before, the new pickup will come with coil spring rear, air suspension options, as well as dynamic torque vectoring for multi-terrain.
Price and Release Date
The price of the newest 2022 Toyota Tundra is not yet available. Definitively, pricing for all grades from SR to TRD Pro (double cab and CrewMax) is tipped to be more than before.
An official release date is expected in the fourth quarter next year, with sales to start at the end of 2021. This model will represent the new generation. Moreover, at the same time, we can expect redesigned pickup truck Tacoma siblings.
