2022 Volkswagen Amarok Will Share Underpinnings With the Ford Ranger

The upcoming 2022 Volkswagen Amarok will be the first pickup truck that is based on the Ford Ranger. According to many reports, the new model will most likely use the same platform as the recently unveiled Ranger. Besides the platform, both models will deploy similar powertrain options.

Volkswagen Group recently revealed that the next-generation pickup truck would arrive in the United States next year, simultaneously as the Ford Ranger. However, at this point, we don’t have much information about the upcoming Amarok, but some things are official.

The next-gen 2022 VW Amarok pickup truck will deploy the same underpinnings as the Blue Oval’s Ranger. For that reason, we should expect significant visual upgrades. However, like before, the Amarok will remain to be a mid-size pickup truck. The crew cab configuration should be the only form, and Amarok will probably arrive with a familiar boxy appearance.

Some available renderings reveal that the new VW Amarok’s most exciting thing will happen on the front. The mid-size pickup might come with a totally different grille, wearing the same “Dynamic Shield” design available on the Mitsubishi Triton.

Cabin Upgrades

Inside, we should expect a complete revamp. However, like the previous model, the new 2022 Volkswagen Amarok will feature the same layout. This pickup truck is available in a crew cab form, allowing plenty of comfort for all passengers. However, the new model will probably offer more upscale materials, and we can expect even more technology.

The new infotainment is a must, as the more standard equipment. The forthcoming Amarok will probably host a new 8-inch infotainment system, providing colorful graphics. Also, as a part of standard equipment, we can expect Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. However, more options should be expected on upper trims, including a vast number of driver aids.
