The new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV has been officially confirmed, and it should be built next year. As far as we can tell, the new pickup truck will be all-electric, and it will offer up to 400 miles of range. With this move, GM company will try to beat other models in the same segment including Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck.
Recently, the manufacturer released some images of the upcoming model, and as we can see, it will look attractive, featuring a glass roof. Unlike the new F-150 Lightning model that comes with a body-on-frame layout, the Chevrolet Silverado EV should use the same platform as the GMC Hummer truck.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV First Look
The new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV will be the second electric truck made by General Motors. As you probably know, the manufacturer recently introduced its first electric model, the GMC Hummer EV, which is expected to share the same Ultium EV platform with the Silverado EV. Right now, only one teaser image is available of the upcoming truck, and it reveals a glass roof.
In general, we don’t expect the new truck to differ significantly from the traditional Silverado. Although, the manufacturer will probably make some small changes, which should separate this model from the rest of Chevy trucks.
Rumors About the Cabin
Inside, the forthcoming 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV will definitively be more stylish than the traditional model. Actually, we’re expecting it to come with the same seating arrangements, offering enough room for five passengers.
The manufacturer will probably make some revisions inside, adding more quality materials and technology. So, the new infotainment screen is a must, just like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV Motor Setup, Range
GM claim that the new 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV will use the same dual motor setup as the Hummer truck. Considering that, we’re also expecting this model to ride on the same Ultium EV platform. The manufacturer also stated that this truck, thanks to a large battery, would be able to travel 400 miles of range. On top of that, it will come with all-wheel steering, just like the new GMC Hummer EV.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV Release Date, Price
The all-new Chevrolet Silverado EV will hit dealerships in late 2022. When it comes out, we’re expecting a number of electric trucks to be already on the market. That should include models such as the Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and possibly the Tesla Cybertruck.
The electric Silverado will be one of the flagship vehicles, and we can expect great sales. The Silverado EV will be built at GM’s EV plant in Detroit, alongside the Hummer EV pickup. Ford recently stopped reservations of the F-150 Lightning after receiving nearly 200,000 orders. As for pricing, many believe that the model with one motor will start at around 50k, while the dual motor setup version could cost less than $70,000.
