The 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD truck is announced, and we can expect its release sometime next year. Unlike the regular half-ton Silverado, the heavy-duty trucks are built for every kind of jobs, especially hard ones. As you may know, the Chevrolet lineup consists of 2500HD and 3500HD variants.
Although they look visually the same, the new 3500HD has a stiffer chassis and offers the option of dual rear wheels. It also takes a greater payload, and it can tow heavier when it is properly equipped, up to 36,000 pounds. However, with the Chevy Silverado 2500HD you can count on a towing capacity of 18,500 pounds with a diesel engine.

The spy photos of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD are available, and it seems that the new truck will receive only a mid-cycle refresh. So, don’t expect a complete redesign, but you can count on a couple of modifications. First of all, the new truck will feature a much wider grille compared to the previous model, and likely it will keep the same pattern as the previous model.
Besides, visually it is better thanks to new lower LED headlights as well as the fog lights. On top of that, Chevy said that the Chevrolet Silverado HD would be the first truck that would receive integrated Super Cruise driving technology, making trailering more easy.
Modern Cabin
On the interior side, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD will be comfortable, just like its sibling Silverado 1500. Actually, expect to see the same treatment on the new 2500HD model. That means we can count on a very quality interior filled with plenty of new technology.
As in the case with a half-ton truck, the manufacturer should use the same infotainment system of the 10.1-inch, as well as the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and a 2-speaker audio setup. Safety is also improved, and we expect as standard front/side/head curtain airbags, trailer sway control, and a programmable Teen Driver key.

2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Engine Spec
Under the hood, the standard engine is a 6.6-liter gasoline V8 developing 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft of torque. As you can see, this is serious amount of power, and thanks to that, this truck can handle most payload and towing demands.
In addition, if you need a work truck with maximum towing ability, go for a powerful, optional diesel engine. This model uses a turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 generating 910 lb.-ft of torque, along with 445 horsepower. The gasoline V8 will use a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel V8 comes with a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but you can still get an all-wheel drive optionally.
2023 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Release Date, Price
The most affordable Chevy Silverado HD is a rear-drive model with a regular cab and a long bed. This truck starts at $35,300, without a destination charge.
The same truck with all-wheel drive should cost you extra $2,800. If you decide to go for the all-wheel-drive 3500HD in High Country trim with the crew cab, the price will jump to $65,700, and it could end up at around $82,000. The recently introduced Ford Super Duty and Ram HD are in the same ballpark, while the GMC Sierra HD starts a little pricier.
