2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Has Been Officially Postponed for the Following Year

The all-new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is unfortunately postponed for the following year. While it still uses a name from Ford’s performance past, the upcoming F-150 Lightning is an all-new electric truck made by Ford. Like the regular F-150 model, the Lightning shares much of its body and cabin layouts.

However, it swaps that truck’s gasoline-powered V6 and V8 engine options for a pair of electric motors. According to Ford, this truck will be available with one of two different battery packs. The Standard-Range battery claimed by Blue Oval will provide 230 miles per charge, while Extended-Range is aiming for 300 miles. All-wheel drive comes standard, and the EV pickup has the ability to tow up to 10,000 pounds.

2023 Ford F-150 Lightning First Look

Like the regular Ford F-150, the Lightning will feature an almost identical design with a few tweaks. In general, it all depends on trim level. The XLT trim, for example, will come with a LED strip that goes across the hood and connects the LED headlight units.

However, if you go for the Lariat trim, you’ll get a more attractive look and a red LED strip at the back. Nevertheless, the Pro also changes a little bit look of the F-150 Lightning thanks to 18-inch alloy wheels that you can replace with 20-inch alloys finished in Dark Carbonized Gray on the XLT trim level. Platinum is the most equipment model, and it features 2-tone bright aluminum/black 22-inch alloys.

Interior Comes Standard With a Large 12.0-inch Touchscreen Infotainment

The new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning’s cabin looks much the same as the gasoline-powered F-150. Of course, there are a few differences, such as a more massive infotainment display and a voluminous front-trunk cargo bay. However, the F-150 Lightning will be available only as a crew cab with a 5.5-foot bed.

A 12.0- inch touchscreen infotainment system is available with Ford’s latest Sync 4 software as standard, while Lariat and Platinum models have a bigger 15.0-inch display. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard as well. There are also two different Bang & Olufsen optional premium stereo systems, one with eight speakers and one with 18 speakers.

Release Date and Price

The 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is reportedly postponed for the next year due to a microchip shortage. So, expect its sales to start sometime in the second quarter of 2022.

As for the price, there will be four trims available starting from Pro that costs $42,000, XLT $55,000, Lariat $59,000, and the most expensive Platinum that can reach with ease $70,000. Anyway, as you can presume, they all cost more than their gasoline-powered counterparts.
