2023 Ford Ranger Next-Generation Spied Testing

Blue Oval is currently testing the next-generation 2023 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Interestingly, the recently spied model wears an atypical Rangers styling that seems refreshed on some parts. Generally, like the previous generation, the new one is outfitted with one of the most handsome and very recognized design languages in the segment.

On top of that, the cabin is modern, and the new Ranger offers plenty of high-tech. Unfortunately, at this point, there is no available information regarding its engine. However, many believe that it will use the same powertrain as its predecessor. The current pickup truck version is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 that makes 270 horsepower.

2023 Ford Ranger Spy Shots

Camo aside, the new spy photos of the 2023 Ford Ranger reveal some refreshments on the front fascia. Interestingly, some parts are visible, giving us clues into how the production model will look like. The entire front fascia looks much more attractive for a start, boasting sharper, more aggressive lines than the current model.

Overall, it appears that the upcoming 2022 Ford Maverick will feature a similar front-end design, too. Besides, the new Ford Rangers boasts a leaf spring suspension setup, which may indicate it is a Tremor model behind the camo.

Interior Upgrades

At this moment, there is no guess what will be changed and updated inside. Generally, we should expect the same seating layout, considering that the spied model has the same proportions as its predecessor. Also, as before, the Ford Ranger should come in XL, XLT and Lariat trim levels. The Ranger offers a great infotainments system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Wi-Fi, and 4-speaker AM/FM unit in the basics form.

Commendably, the standard package also includes a pre-collision warning system that detects cars and pedestrians in front. However, it would still be a smarter move to go for the mid-level Ranger XLT trim. This trim features the new Co-Pilot360 safety system with blind-spot monitoring, trailer-tow monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, front/rear parking sensors, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen.

2023 Ford Ranger Engine Options

The same engine will most likely power the latest 2023 Ford Ranger. However, many believe that Blue Oval will introduce some of the new ones. In addition, hybrid or even plug-in versions are on the table. The current Ford Ranger uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 that produces 270 horsepower. This engine comes with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission.

Compared to rivals, the Ranger is hanging pretty well with its 7,500-pound maximum tow rating and best-in-class payload numbers. On the other hand, fuel economy is not the bright side of this pickup. It is EPA rated in city/highway 21/26 mpg (RWD), 20/24 mpg (AWD), 19/19 mpg (Tremor).

Release Date, Price

The release date of the new 2023 Ford Ranger is set for the following year. Most likely that Blue Oval will introduce it sometime in the middle of 2022 as the 2023 model. The most exciting news is that some refreshments are happening, and spy shots confirm precisely that.

Pricing is not yet available, but expect it to be slightly higher than before. The pickup truck segment is one of the most growing, and Ranger will try its best to keep up with rivals like the Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, and Honda Ridgeline.
