The new 2023 GMC Canyon Denali is a small luxury truck that will bring more amenities than any other model in the truck’s lineup. Unlike the original version, the Denali as the range-topping trim is made of premium materials, featuring heated leather seats, a great package of advanced technology, excellent safety, and more. In general, this model offers something a little different in the midsize pickup trucks segment.
However, it’s still mechanically identical to the Chevrolet Colorado, offering three engines. The base model uses an inline-4, while the more powerful V6 comes optionally, just like the awesome Duramax 4-cylinder turbodiesel. Thanks to all above, the Canyon is a direct rival to the models such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Design
The exterior of the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will not be significantly different from the original one. The front end of this model was revised, and it looks a bit more like the bigger GMC Sierra Denali model.
As for sizing, the Canyon is very similar to the current Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. The luxurious Denali as the top of the range trim features a distinct appearance package with a 20-inch diamond-cut wheels, chrome exterior trim, and a unique grille. New for 2023 is the Denali Black Edition that should replace chrome materials with blacked-out trim for a darker aesthetic.
What’s New Inside?
Unlike the base model, the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali will offer a more luxurious interior, filled with many technologies. Nevertheless, it will also feature more comfortable heated leather seats and enough room to fit five passengers. The seating space in the front is roomy, but we cannot say the same on the extended cab, which offers tight back seats.
The interior quality is good, especially when choosing the luxurious Denali model. This trim feature premium heated leather seats, ventilated front seats, Bose 7-speaker premium audio, and an upgraded 8-inch infotainment system with navigation.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Engine Specs
The highlight of the 2023 GMC Canyon Denali is under its hood. As before, the Canyon is offered with three different engines. The base 2.5-liter inline-4 engine produces 200 horsepower with 191 lb.-ft of torque, while the more powerful 3.6 V6 delivers 308 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft of torque. The last one is Duramax 2.8-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel developing 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft of torque.
It’s worth mentioning that the diesel is optional on the Elevation, AT4, and 4WD Denali models. With the standard engine, this truck has a max towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs., while more robust V6 can tow up to 7,000 lbs. The Duramax has tons of torque, and thanks to that, its tow rating is 7,700 lbs. Anyway, the base engine uses a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 has an 8-speed.

2023 GMC Canyon Denali Price, Release Date
The starting price of the 2023 GMC Canyon is little less than $27,000 for the base Elevation model. However, the better-equipped and off-road-ready AT4 model starts at $38,400, while the most luxurious Denali trim is more than $41,000.
As you can see, the pricing of this truck varies depending on which trim, cab and box configuration you choose. The pricing of the base Canyon is in line with models like the Toyota Tacoma and the Ford Ranger. We’re expecting sales of this truck to start later in the year.
