The 2023 Ram HD trucks are best-in-class, and they include Ram 2500 and 3500 models. Interestingly, there are no closest opponents in the heavy-duty trucks class that can match ride quality and luxury to the HD models.
Besides robust design and a massive max towing capacity of up to 37,100 pounds, these trucks also come with a spacious cabin. There’s no shortage inside at all, and both models offer high-tech options, like driver assists features and the enormous 12.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. According to Ram, we can expect these trucks to debut sometime next year.
2023 Ram HD Design
The new 2023 Ram HD models come with modern lines, as we saw on the lighter Ram 1500. It dominates on the front end with directional LED headlights flanked to a split grille. However, according to Ram, different trim levels have their own versions of the grille.
For example, if you go for the Power Wagon, you’ll get a more attractive grille and few more styling cues. Unlike the Ram 2500 that comes only in the single-rear-wheel layout, the Ram 3500 is available with single rear wheels or dual rear wheels. This latter arrangement is also called “dually.” Overall, for 2023, the manufacturer will also make some changes on the rear, adding thinner taillight and the same bed configuration as before.
Like the lighter Ram 1500, both HD models will be no less attractive. Those trucks come with high-quality interior materials, excellent space, and many in-cabin tech features. The manufacturer offers a single cab, a spacious four-door Crew Cab, and the massive Mega Cab. Although rivals from Ford, Chevy, and GMC are also luxurious inside, but the Ram has the best interior in the segment.
Ram offers a giant 12.0-inch reconfigurable touchscreen, which is the largest in the class. The system also provides navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Also, as standard, there are five USB ports and up to three 115-volt outlets, which can quickly handle up to 400 watts to run or charge tools.
The new 2023 Ram HD comes with three engines. The standard powertrain is a 6.4-liter V-8, which makes 410-hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an excellent eight-speed automatic, which comes exclusively four-wheel drive. However, other models are offered with a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel inline-six with either rear- or four-wheel drive. The first is available on both 2500 and 3500 models, and it produces 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque.
The next one is available only on the 3500 model, and it makes 400-hp high-output and an incredible 1075 lb-ft of torque. Both units are connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. With the Cummins engine and 1000 lb-ft of torque, the new Ram 3500 has a towing capacity of 37,100 pounds and a payload of 7680 pounds. With the standard V-8, this truck can handle 3240 pounds and tow 14,370.
