A few weeks ago, Toyota revealed a concept of its Tacoma electric pickup truck with a four-door crew cab setup. The new 2023 Toyota Tacoma EV looks futuristic, we must admit, and it still has some DNA from its predecessor. If you didn’t know, Toyota has stated that it plans to eventually build Tacoma and Tundra electric pickup trucks in the near future, and now we have proof of that claim.
While we have very little information at this point, the concept images give us a fair amount of information. As we noticed, the upcoming truck comes in form as a four-door crew-cab with a short bed, and it has chunky off-road tires. The styling is very similar to what we’ve seen on the recently introduced Tundra pickup, except for the blocked-off grille that is typical for EV models.

2023 Toyota Tacoma EV Design
As we said, the 2023 Toyota Tacoma EV will be available in a four-door crew-cab configuration with a short bed. Unlike the original version, the new truck features more attractive styling thanks to a blocked-off grille that is typical for EV models front ends. We also noticed a chunky off-road tires, which suggest that the Concept model could be the TRD Pro model.
Overall, the styling is pretty fabulous, and the Tacoma EV looks similar to the new Tundra model, if we abandon the blocked-off grille. As for the size, it’s difficult to determine it from these images, but it may fit in between the current mid-size and full-size Tundra in the lineup. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if this truck shares the same platform with its bigger sibling Tundra.
Interior Rumors
Unfortunately, we don’t have a clue what the 2023 Toyota Tacoma EV will look like inside. Most likely, Toyota will add more premium materials and some upgraded technologies to separate the electric model from the original one. However, one thing is for sure, it will provide enough room for five passengers thanks to its four-door crew-cab configuration.
Also, the safety department will be much better as well, and we should expect as a standard forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control are all standard. Of course, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, as well as Amazon Alexa compatibility should come as standard.

2023 Toyota Tacoma EV Motor Specs
At this point, there is no official information regarding the motor setup of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma EV. From information that we got, the forthcoming truck will probably be offered with two electric motors. We also expect to see a battery capacity that should match the Ford F-150 Lightening.
The current F-150 Lightning comes with two transverse-mounted fixed-magnet AC electric motors, one for each axle, creating an all-wheel-drive system. Thanks to that, it produces with a standard-range battery 426 horsepower and 230 miles. However, with an extended-range battery, this truck provides 563 horsepower and 300 miles of range.

2023 Toyota Tacoma EV Price, Release Date
We don’t know how much the Tacoma EV could cost, but many believe it will match the price of the F-150 Lightning. Blue Oval recently stated that the Ford F-150 Lightning would cost $42,000, plus a destination charge.
Besides, the Tesla Cybertruck is also the closest rival to the Toyota Tacoma EV, and it costs around $40k. The exact release date of the Tacoma EV is unknown, but we’re hoping for more information in the coming months.
