2023 Volkswagen Amarok Teased Ahead of Next Year’s Launch

The refreshed 2023 Volkswagen Amarok has been teased, and we are expecting some spy shots in the coming months. According to the latest news, the Ford Ranger-based truck will be built in South Africa and Argentina. Two weeks after the Blue Oval unveiled its Ranger Truck, the Volkswagen company published some design sketches of the new Amarok utilitarian vehicle. From what we can see, the new model will look attractive, and it will have some of “Volkswagen’s DNA”.

It looks pretty different from its predecessor, but it still shares the same body panels. However, its hood is different, front fenders, headlights, and front grille.

The exterior of the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok will be similar to the Ranger. From what we hear, this truck will ride on the same platform as the mentioned model. The image reveals a double cab model with plastic body cladding around the wheel arches.

Also, we noticed a new LED light bar at the front and the roof with rails straps that holds two canisters. Interestingly, the VW version comes with more bulging wheel arches than the Ranger. An image of the rear is not available at this moment, but we’re expecting a new taillight shape with different graphics.

Cabin Features

Thanks to a new photo, we have a clear look at what the 2023 Volkswagen Amarok will look like. The cabin is spacious and the center console dominated by a touchscreen arranged in portrait mode. We saw the same infotainment on the recently introduced Ford Ranger model as well. We also expect infotainment to support Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, satellite radio, and with some extra USB port.

As for the basic driver-assistance features, this model will offer plenty of them. Moreover, you can get even more advanced technology if you go higher. As standard, the Amarok will include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, and available adaptive cruise control.

2023 Volkswagen Amarok Engine Specs

As far as we know, the new 2023 Volkswagen Amarok will likely borrow the same engine from the Ford Ranger model. That means we can expect the Volkswagen Amarok to be available with a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that is able to produce 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque.

This engine uses a 10-speed automatic transmission, and it sends drive to the rear wheels (RWD) in standard form. All 4-wheel drive (4WD) system is optional. It also has a fuel-saving engine stop/restart function to save some fuel on idle.

Release Date, Price

The forthcoming 2023 Volkswagen Amarok has just been teased, and we must admit it looks much better than before. This truck is Ford Ranger-based, and it rides on the same platform using the same engine. The production of the Amarok will start in South Africa and Argentina, and it will be available in Europe from late next year.

At this point, we don’t have any information on how much this model will cost. However, many believe that it will start below the current Ford Ranger price of $26k.
