The new 2024 GMC Sierra EV has been teased, and its production is expected to start in 2023, while sales should begin in 2024. From the information that we collected, the new model will be the second all-electric from the GMC brand. The first one will be the all-electric Sierra EV, for which sales are set for late 2023.
Both models will likely share the same Ultium platform and probably the same battery system as the Silverado EV. Think of that, the new truck will be able to travel more than the 400-mile pre-charge. GMC says that the first GMC Sierra EV to come out will have the top-of-the-line Denali trim.
2024 GMC Sierra EV Design
The teased image of the 2024 GMC Sierra EV reveals few details. As far as we know, the new truck will share the same unibody Ultium platform and battery system as the upcoming Silverado EV and Hummer models.
Anyway, we got some renderings, and the new truck looks amazing. Judging by the image, the GMC Sierra EV will be completely redesigned, featuring an attractive closed grille and stylish headlights. It seems that we can expect more chrome this time, as well as bigger and more stylish wheels as well. The model that was drawn probably has the Denali trim, which is expected to be the first to come out.
On the inside, we expect the new 2024 GMC Sierra EV to be very modern. The manufacturer will probably add more quality materials, separating the EV model from the other ones in GMC’s lineup. Also, we’re expecting the new truck to employ many technologies from the Silverado EV.
So, expect to see the same 11-inch driver instrument display, heads-up display, and large 17-inch LCD infotainment screen. The latest Ultifi software is a must, as is navigation, and over-the-air updates.
2024 GMC Sierra EV Motor Specs
Based on current information, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV will have powertrain offerings identical to the Silverado EV. So, we can expect it to use a two-motor setup, providing an estimated 400-mile range on a full charge. It will also work with DC fast charging at up to 350 kilowatts, which will add about 100 miles of range in 10 minutes.
The current Silverado EV RST model with the same specifications makes 664-horsepower and 780-foot-pounds of torque. On the other hand, the base work truck produces 510 horsepower and 615 foot pounds of torque. This truck is capable of towing up to 8,000 pounds and 1,200 pounds of payload, while a 20,000-pound version should be available as well.
How Much Will the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Cost?
The new GMC Sierra EV pricing has not yet been announced. However, we expect this truck to be in line with the Silverado nameplate. For comparison, the current Silverado EV will have a starting MSRP of $39,900 for the base work truck, while the more upper trims will range from $50,000 to $80,000.
It is worth mentioning that the gasoline-powered Sierra 1500 is around $30,000. The GMC Sierra will be fully revealed in late 2022, while production should start in 2023.
