2024 Mitsubishi Triton PHEV Spied Testing

The next-generation 2024 Mitsubishi Triton PHEV will reportedly arrive next year, featuring a modified version of the plug-in hybrid found in the new Outlander. Also, an all-electric model could be introduced as well. So, the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton could become the first electrified dual-cab ute in Australia.

Judging by recent spy shots, the forthcoming truck, besides new engines, will also introduce some changes inside and out. First of all, the design is much better, and the new model will ride on the modified platform on which the Outlander sits. This platform, besides the PHEV system, should also allow all-electric motors to be attached as well.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Redesign

Thankfully, the new spy shots are available, and we now have our first look at the new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton PHEV. First of all, the camouflage covers most of its body parts, but we noticed some changes and upgrades over the outgoing model. Basically, the new generation will share many design cues with the Outlander, as well as the same platform.

So, the front-end design language is identical, featuring a massive grille, which is flanked by daytime running lights. Also, below the cover, we saw the new pair of headlights that are shaped differently. In general, they look much tinier. Overall, the design is attractive, and we cannot wait to see what the upper trims will bring new.

More Comfort Inside

Unfortunately, due to heavy camouflage, we don’t have a clear look at what is changed inside. However, many of us are expecting to see a completely new interior. Nevertheless, the seating layout will be unchanged, which means that the new truck can still accommodate up to five passengers.

On the technology side, the manufacturer will probably introduce a new infotainment system, as well as standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. Safety will be better as well and expect a great rating. So far, this model has been equipped with features like active brake assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and parking sensors with active parking assist.

2024 Mitsubishi Triton Powertrain Specs

Like the mid-sized Outlander PHEV, we’re expecting the new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton to use the same 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine that produces 221 horses. This engine is backed by two electric motors, taking energy from a lithium-ion battery pack.

The Outback PHEV with this combination provides around 24 miles on a single charge. The charging is quick, and you can charge a battery in less than 40 minutes with a DC fast-charging station.

The new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton was spotted testing recently, and we expect it to hit the market sometime next year. Reportedly, the new truck is riding on the same platform as the Outlander PHEV, sharing its engine.

Judging by the new spy shots, it also has an identical front fascia to the mentioned SUV. While details remain scarce at the time of writing, we’re expecting the new truck to start at around $32,000. Mitsubishi hasn’t said anything about other trim levels, but there has been some speculation that the most expensive model could reach $50,000, or even more.
