Rivian announced several days ago that the upcoming 2024 Rivian R1T will get smaller battery options, two motors, interior updates, and a price increase of more than $12,000. The current model starts at $67,500 for the base “Explore” version, while the Launch Edition is priced at $75,000.
In case you didn’t know, the manufacturer hasn’t so far offered a model with a dual-motor option, and the quad-motor is the only option currently available. With all these changes, the price of the Rivian R1T will significantly increase. Anyway, the design will remain the same, and there should be no changes at all.

2024 Rivian R1T Design
The exterior of the 2024 Rivian R1T is unique, thanks mostly to the front fascia and light signatures that give this truck futuristic flair. It also comes with three choices of wheels. Basically, you can get a 20-inch All-Terrain for superior off-roading, a larger 21-inch for the best electric range, and 22-inch wheels that promises enhanced on-road handling.
From a functionality standpoint, Rivan is the only truck in its class that can electronically lower the tailgate. On top of that, it offers a rail system as standard, with crossbars for mounting bikes or even a tent.
Interior Equipment
The 2024 Rivian R1T model is dominant inside, with quality materials and a dash that holds a 16-inch touchscreen. Interestingly, this model is one of the rarest that includes standard equipment called Gear Tunnel, behind the rear doors. It also offers a very spacious cabin for up to five passengers.
We like its heated vegan leather seats, panoramic moonroof, and powerful Meridian premium audio system. It is worth mentioning that for about $6,750 you can get a Camp Kitchen that slides right out of the Gear Tunnel. The kitchen includes a 1,440-watt 2-burner and a 30-piece cook set.

2024 Rivian R1T Motor Specs
As we said, the 2024 Rivian R1T uses an all-electric powertrain. A 2-motor model has been announced and it should use a smaller 105-kWh battery pack and have a range of 250 miles. So far, the manufacturer has offered the R1T with four electric motors, each powering an individual wheel. Thanks to that, the Rivian R1T comes as standard with all-wheel drive.
Unlike the two-motor setup, this one is feded by a 135-kWh battery pack that can provide 314 miles of range. According to Rivian, there will be an optional 180-kWh max battery that will increase millage to a 400-plus range. On top of that, this engine is able to produce more than 800 horsepower and 900 lb-ft of torque with four motors. Perhaps the most impressive claim is the maximum towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. This means that the R1T beats the Ford F-150 Lightning and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.

2024 Rivian R1T Release Date, Price
As per the latest news, the new 2024 Rivian R1T two-motor variant pickup truck will arrive sometime next year. However, the price will not remain the same as the manufacturer promoted this truck.
According to people who pre-ordered this model, they said that Rivian has increased the price of this truck by $12,000 or more, depending on the model and chosen equipment. As we said, the current truck starts at $67,500 for the base “Explore” version, while the Launch Edition has been around $75,000.
